The Association Friends of Konavle Heritage is proud to present a major retrospective exhibition of the works of Luko Capor, taking place at the Monastery of St. Blaise in Pridvorje in June 2026. The exhibition will showcase the lifelong artistic achievements of this remarkable Konavle artist.

Luko Capor

Luko Capor was born on 26 February 1953. Throughout his life, he has devoted himself to art, achieving equal success in both painting and sculpture, particularly in ceramic sculpture and design, fields in which he is considered one of Konavle’s leading artistic figures. Alongside his artistic pursuits, he is also a beekeeper, winemaker, and passionate mushroom enthusiast. He lives and creates in the village of Vignji with his wife, Xenia. He is the father of four sons and grandfather to two grandchildren.

His home is also his creative studio. Luko finds inspiration in everything and sees artistic potential in every material. Visitors arriving at his house are welcomed on the terrace by dragons, birds, frogs, and portraits nestled among traditional stone features and flower pots. Inside, paintings and sculptures fill every corner. Saints and friars gaze from cabinets, while landscapes, portraits, and figurative works created over decades adorn the walls.

Apart from participating in group exhibitions and art colonies, Luko has only once presented his work independently to the Dubrovnik public, at the Sponza Palace in 2019. As a result, the wider local community remains largely unaware of the richness and breadth of his artistic oeuvre. With this exhibition, we aim to change that and present Luko Capor’s work in the most comprehensive way possible.

The retrospective exhibition in Pridvorje will feature approximately 130 paintings of various formats, ranging from sketches and drawings to large acrylic works on panels. Around fifty sculptures will be displayed beneath glass domes. Through these exhibits, visitors will be able to follow the evolution of Luko’s artistic expression from his earliest works to the present day.

This exhibition represents not only the first major presentation of Luko Capor’s work, but also the first art exhibition of this scale ever organized in Konavle.

The exhibition will be held at the Monastery of St. Blaise in Pridvorje, occupying both the Council Hall and the cloister, and will remain open until the end of September 2026. The official opening ceremony will take place as part of the celebration of St. Anthony’s Day in Pridvorje on the 12th of June 2026 at 8:00 PM.

The exhibition will be accompanied by an extensive catalogue—effectively a monograph—which, across more than 100 pages, will provide a comprehensive overview of the artist’s life and work. The photographs were taken by the renowned photographer Miho Skvrce, while the accompanying texts were prepared by Kate Bagoje, Lidija Crnčević, and Antonia Rusković Radonić.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all sponsors and friends who have supported the realization of this exhibition: the Konavle Museums and Galleries, Ruđer Bošković Airport Dubrovnik, the Society of Friends of Dubrovnik Antiquities, the Municipality of Konavle, the Konavle Tourist Board, Dubrovnik Diaspora and the Josipovac Rehabilitation Centre.
